The Big Biodiversity Conversation
Norwich has many wonderful green spaces, habitats and residents who support and value the city’s nature. Yet in a changing world, it is vital we do more to protect, sustain and improve the biodiversity in our city.
We need your help to shape a vision for Norwich, to ensure wide varieties of species, habits and eco systems, and, give nature the space it needs!
Share your ideas, knowledge and experiences below, to help shape our action plan and enable the biodiversity of Norwich to flourish in the years to come.

If we all were to make just a small change, our combined impact to nurture nature and protect our environment could be huge.From planting wildflowers, to building a bug box or simply going litter picking.
Share your ideas on what small changes each of us, including the council, could make for the greater good. Any comments for the council will be discussed with colleagues to explore what improvements can be made.

Stop using peat and peat-based composts
Harvesting peat adds to climate change and destroys habitats. All city planting (including plant tubs etc.) should stop using peat immediately.

Roundabouts and inspiration
Try and expand the number of roundabouts left to wild flowers. Look to the planting within Sheffields ‘Grey to Green’ or the Kings Cross CanalSide initiative for inspiration. Celebrate and publicise what is already here - it’s a fine city! Try and engage with young people to look after their own community areas - via schools? As a teacher in a school with little outdoor space, I’d take on a small plot of land for a project with the children!

Educate about organic gardening methods
To stop people overusingusing pesticides and other harmful chemicals

Switch from vehicles to e-cargobikes for transporting tools, equipment and possibly bins in parks and cemeteries.
Alongside this add more bike stands using parks to normalise and inspire increased use of cycling for utility and transport as well as leisure.
