Two of Norwich's most popular skateparks, at Heartsease Recreation Ground and Eaton Park, are set for an upgrade. The current steel-frame facilities have served the community for many years, and now Norwich City Council is working with skatepark specialists Betongpark to create fresh, inclusive spaces for everyone who enjoys skateboarding, BMX, scooting, roller skating and other wheeled sports.

Heartsease: Mini ramp and roller skate area

Inspired by the original concrete bowl, the proposed new design deautures a quirky mini ramp with special concrete pool coping (a rounded concrete edge that’s smoother than traditional steel, and found in classic skate bowls). This will make it unique in Norwich. The mini ramp will be connected to a roller skating area so more people can enjoy it. The overall design is low and flowy, ideal for beginners while still fun for experienced riders. We’re also looking at coloured concrete to make it stand out in the park.

Eaton: Plaza-style extension

The proposed extension at Eaton Park will create a plaza style space designed for all wheeled sports - skateboarding, BMX, scooting, rollerblading, WCMX (wheelchair motorcross) - and a place for the community to come together. It's designed with input from local riders to make sure it works for beginners and advanced users. The new section extends the existing skatepark, linking smoothly with a small bank so riders can flow between the two areas. The new section will include features not found in the current park, giving riders new challenges and space for all abilities.
