Help us plant 7,000 trees in Norwich!
Trees are an essential part of our city. They clean our air, cool our streets and provide homes for wildlife. They are also essential for our well-being by reducing noise pollution and improving our mental health.
In Norwich, we are lucky to have an incredibly green city, boasting amazing parks, lush open spaces and a tree canopy cover above the national average!
But we can do more to support nature and address the climate emergency in our city, particularly in urban areas. That’s why we are supporting 7000+, a citywide initiative to plant 7,000 new trees in Norwich by 2030.
What is 7000+?
Run by local charity The Greenhouse Trust and supported by Norwich City Council, the project aims to encourage and support Norwich’s residents to plant trees across the city. By providing free trees to residents who commit to planting them in their garden and documenting the planting or growth through art. Your artwork will help us raise awareness of the importance of trees and inspire others to plant trees too. Together, we can make Norwich a greener, healthier city.
Here's how it works:
Pick up your free tree at the Greenhouse Trust, every Saturday between 11:00-16:00
Plant the tree in your garden or on your own land
Document the planting or growth through art
Upload your art below to our online gallery
Care for and nurture your tree as it grows
The concept behind 7000+ is inspired artist Joseph Beuys’ 7000 oaks project. You can find out more information about the project and where you can collect your tree(s) from on The Greenhouse Trust website: https://www.greenhousetrust.net/
