Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy
Consultation has concluded
This Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy builds on our Corporate Plan and sets out our continued commitment to tackling inequality and promoting diversity. This covers both our legal duty under The Equality Act 2010 and our wider ambition to reduce socio-economic inequality in the city.
Over the last year, we have spoken to residents, community groups, businesses, councillors and people that work at the council to better understand what challenges they face. This could be as:
- an employee of Norwich City Council
- someone accessing the services we provide
- a person living, travelling, studying or working in the city
These conversations, along with a range of data and evidence, have helped to shape our ambition so far. We are keen to get better. Your feedback will help us ensure our work on improving equality is informed by local people’s priorities.

What's next?
The final strategy will include a summary of the consultation and explain how your feedback has helped shape our future plans and activities. This will be uploaded to Get Talking Norwich. The strategy team will also develop a detailed action plan to support the strategy, which will be updated yearly.
Progress will be published as part of our Annual Equality Information Report which is reported to Cabinet each January ahead of the annual budget, so the council’s strategic approach continues to influence how our resources are spent.
