Norwich City Council is inviting organisations to bid for a Small Culture Grant to fund activities which support the delivery of We Are Norwich - A community-led plan and the Norwich 2040 City Vision - Creative City objectives.
The grants are designed to help cultural and community groups and organisations to provide cultural events, festivals and other activities in the city. We will consider applications for sums of between £500 - £7,500 for projects beginning in the 2026/27 tax year, and running for up to 12 months.
The Small Culture Grants are part of the council’s action plan to ensure the city continues to flourish as a creative and vibrant place. Last year, twelve projects received grants, including:
a theatre project by, with and for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities,
performing arts activities and mentoring for children and young people,
festivals dedicated to Norwich’s history and heritage,
sustainable costumes for a dance group,
and venue costs for a community music group.
Funded activities took place in neighbourhoods all over the city, from theatres to parks and even the city streets!
How to apply for a 2026/27 grant
This year we’re trialling a two-step application process, beginning with a short Expression of Interest (EOI) form. This is intended to help people avoid spending time on a full application if their project is not eligible or suitable for a Small Culture Grant.
To apply:
Complete Application Form 1 (EOI), either via the online form or as a Word doc.
If using the Word doc, please email a copy to commissioning@norwich.gov.uk with 'Small Culture Grant' in the subject line.
First stage (EOI) applications open the week of 7th September 2026. The deadline for first stage applications is 09:00 am on Wednesday 30th September 2026.
If your project is eligible and suitable for a Small Culture Grant, you will be sent details of how to submit a full application no later than Monday 12th October 2026.

The information you provide will be kept private and confidential and only shared with an internal assessment panel. If your bid is successful, information in relation to your application will be retained by us for duration of the service provision.
