Norwich City Council is committed to ensuring everyone in Norwich has access to a safe and reliable taxi and private hire service. To achieve this, we are reviewing our Taxi Driver Standards and want to hear your views on proposed changes. You can read the proposed draft document here.

Why are we making these changes?

  • To enhance public safety, with a particular focus on protecting children and vulnerable adults.
  • To improve driver standards and suitability.
  • To ensure the taxi and private hire sector meets the evolving needs of our city.

What we want to know from you

  • Your thoughts on the Taxi Driver Standards, which will affect current license holders, new applicants, and operators.
  • How we can best ensure the suitability of drivers and operators. This includes your views on background checks, training requirements, and other relevant factors.
