Have your say on how you play: help us design Norwich's future play spaces!

We are putting together a big plan for all our play spaces across Norwich, and we really want to hear from you. Our aim is to create fun, safe and welcoming places that everyone, no matter their age or ability, can enjoy.

Right now, Norwich has 74 play areas, 17 multi-use games areas (MUGAs), 5 skate parks and 1 BMX track. Many of these spots need a refresh. With your ideas, we can transform them into places that boost health and happiness for years to come. Here's how you can get involved:

1. Take our shaping play survey ๐Ÿ›

Whether you are a young person, parent, grandparent, carer, teacher or just someone who cares about our community spaces, your feedback is important. This survey helps us understand how you use our play areas now, what feautures you love most (or wish we had!) and where we should spend money in the future.

2. Draw your perfect play space ๐ŸŽจ

Download the template and show us what your perfect play space looks like. Once you're done, you can take a photo and email it to our team at GetTalking@Norwich.gov.uk and please remember to include your name and details on the back if you want to enter the competition.

3. Drop a pin on our map ๐ŸŒ

Got an idea for a spot that needs an upgrade? Or some feedback about an existing play space? Head over to our interactive map and leave your comments where they're needed.

4. Join us at a pop-up event ๐Ÿ“ข

Come along to one of our special pop-up events, where you can chat with our team in person. You'll be able to draw your ideas directly onto templates and submit paper copies of the survey on the spot. It's a great chance to share your thoughts, see what others are suggesting and help us shape the future of play in Norwich face-to-face. Dates and locations can be found here.

What happens next?

We’ve already started researching our play spaces, looking at things like accessibility, equipment, age suitability and where they're located. Everything you share - through the survey, your drawings and map pins - will help us:

  • Shape the play strategy
  • Prioritise improvements
  • Create inclusive spaces
  • Plan for future needs

Once we've gathered all your fantastic ideas, we'll put together a draft plan. We'll then share this back with you later this year, so you can have another say before anything is finalised.

The consultation will be open from Monday 30 June until Sunday 10 August 2025.
