Myself and Gary Whipp (Service Improvement Officers at Norwich City Council) were invited to the coffee morning on Tuesday 26th March at Melbourne Cottages which took place between 10am and midday. It was a great opportunity for us to meet the residents, enjoy coffee and cake and chat with you all about the Community Pages project on the engagement platform, ‘Get Talking Norwich’.

Natasha Barker (Anti social behaviour enforcement officer from Norwich City Council), Alli Dawaar (Early help and anti-social behaviour co-ordinator from Norfolk Constabulary), 3 police officers and Angie Russen who you all know, also came along and the room was buzzing with chat which was lovely to hear!

16 residents enjoyed the coffee morning and it was a pleasure to meet you all and learn a little more about you.

For those of you who maybe aren’t as familiar with the internet as you’d like to be, we have placed an ‘Ideas board’ in the community room where you can pin your suggestions about how we can improve your communal area. Lots of people have already contributed, so please pop along and have a read then add your own thoughts!

The ideas you have given us so far are:

I.T training

Gardening club

Days out/coach trips

Invite speakers to come along to talk on different topics

Install a tv in the communal room

Chair exercise classes

Bingo

Craft afternoon

Musical performances

We are offering a £1200 grant which can be used to make improvements to the area where you live, so we need your help to decide how best to use this money.

Every idea will be considered and no suggestion is a bad one!

We look forward to seeing you all again soon and wish you a very happy, peaceful Easter.

Suzy McGill
