Help us develop the Norwich Climate Action Plan!
The climate is changing around us and Norwich is not immune to the impacts. The stripes at the top of this page each represent a year’s average temperature in our city. Shades of blue indicate cooler years, while red shows years that were hotter than average. The dark red stripes on the right show the rapid heating in recent decades, highlighting the need for urgent action.
Norwich City Council, alongside the Norwich 2040 City Vision Partnership, has formally adopted a target for Norwich to be net zero by 2045. This means that the city aims to balance the amount of greenhouse gases it releases with the amount removed from the atmosphere.
To help us reach our 2045 net zero target, we’re working with the Norwich Climate Commission to develop an innovative and comprehensive Climate Action Plan for Norwich. This plan will set out what we need to do as a city to achieve our 2045 target, and what we need to do to ensure the city remains resilient and prosperous as the climate changes.
What will our Climate Action Plan for Norwich include?
Housing Transport ⚡ Energy Sustainable Finance Behaviour Change Food Industry
How you can get involved...
We imagine a future where Norwich is a thriving city, powering itself with locally generated renewable energy, benefiting from energy efficient low-bills homes and providing exceptional green spaces to support biodiversity. But our Climate Action Plan is for the whole city, so we want to hear your vision for Norwich’s future to make sure we don’t miss anything out.
Our early engagement phase has now closed, but if you missed out there's still a chance for you to have your say. Now that we've gathered everyone's ideas, we're getting to work drafting a final version of the Climate Action Plan. We'll release the Plan on this page for full public consultation later in 2024, giving you another chance to input into the process.
