As you will probably be aware from different sources of news coverage, Norwich City Council, like many local authorities across the country, faces significant financial pressures. Despite these challenges, and thanks to the council’s sound financial planning and management, we successfully set a balanced budget for 2024-25.

We appreciate you taking the time to participate in our recent budget consultation. Your feedback is vital in helping us make informed decisions about how to allocate resources and deliver essential services to our community.

  • The consultation received 281 responses, with a focus on maintain core services like parks, waste collection and housing
  • Residents broadly supported the council’s proposed approach to manage its budget gap, including the proposed 2.99% council tax increase to safeguard services
  • Strong support was also shown for maintaining council tax reduction schemes for low-income residents and charging premiums on unoccupied second homes
  • Many valuable suggestions were received on reducing costs, such as utilising technology for efficient and maximising income from council assets

    Budget Consultation 2024-25

    An important part of the budget-setting process is hearing from you and considering your feedback before we can agree the 2024-25 budget and set the council tax.


    We want to know your views on the proposed council tax level, what you think about our spending plans and the council’s approach to balancing the budget.


    Your response will help inform the final proposals that will be presented at our full council meeting for a decision on 21 February 2024.


       The survey closes at 9am on Monday 15 January and all questions are optional.
