The Greater Norwich Growth Board (GNGB), which is made up of Broadland District Council, Norfolk County Council, Norwich City Council and South Norfolk Council, funds and supports projects that benefit those living and working in Greater Norwich.
In 2022 the GNGB published the Greater Norwich Physical Activity and Sport Strategy (PASS) which sets out a shared vision for increasing levels of physical activity and sport in the Greater Norwich area. Three years on, we want to understand how people stay active and how your habits have changed in recent years. What do you think could help make it easier for people to move more in everyday life?
We want to hear from everyone in Greater Norwich. Whether you play sports, walk the dog, cycle to work, or don’t do much physical activity at all — this short survey is for you. We’re gathering views from residents across Greater Norwich to understand:
what helps you stay active,
what gets in the way,
what improvements you’d like to see.
Your feedback will help shape future health and wellbeing services, leisure facilities and community programmes.
Everyone over the age of 16 who takes part will be put in a draw to win a prize; a £25 One4All Voucher and either a 1-month free South Norfolk Leisure Membership or an annual single venue Norwich Parks Tennis Membership.
The survey will close at midnight on Sunday 30 November 2025.

Thank you to everyone across Greater Norwich who took part in the physical activity public survey. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to deliver the Greater Norwich Physical Activity and Sport Strategy.
This consultation identified several key trends in physical activity across Greater Norwich:
59% of our residents have changed the way in which they get active over the last 3 years, residents are walking more, more active in day-to-day life and exercising at home more.
Feedback surrounding facilities is more positive than 2021; more residents believe their facility meets their needs, is well equipped and that their facility is accessible for people requiring additional support.
9% more inactive residents believe that their health and wellbeing is important or very important, than in 2021. However, 68% inactive residents deemed themselves less active than they were 3 years ago.
Mental health was identified as one of the top health conditions that make daily activities difficult, while also being one of the top motivators for active residents to participate in physical activity.
It remains that inactive people are more likely to consider using leisure facilities to get active while active residents utilise informal spaces.
All 2,213 responses have now been reviewed and analysed to understand the current behaviours, motivations and barriers to being active across in Greater Norwich. These findings have also been compared with the 2021 consultation results, which helped shape the Greater Norwich Physical Activity and Sport Strategy (PASS).
The Sports and Physical Activity Working Group (SPAWG), who are delivering the PASS action plan, will now use the results to:
Understand how effective the strategy has been so far.
Identify actions that may need to be adjusted or reprioritised for the final two years of delivery.
Support targeted communication and engagement campaigns across the Greater Norwich partnership.
Shape future health and wellbeing programmes.
Inform improvements or developments in local leisure facilities.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your views.
